goes into standby after hours of unuse

hi all. My HDR Fox Sat S2 keeps going into standby (clock/time showing on display) - I have been in settings and all the auto standby is off and everything. - I am running custom firmware .

Foxsat-HDR needs to be in standby for re-wakening into housekeeping mode overnight.
Not good to leave on 24/7. (EPG refresh and tuning updates).

Mine did a 6+ hour (runaway?) recording of ITV2 last night... so had the clock display on. I stopped the recording manually.
Check for similar problems?

ITV1 (Anglia) is also missing the EPG for next Saturday so ITV are in <male chicken>-up mode at the moment.

I dont have the Housekeeping package installed on the foxsat HDR S2 at all - I have it on my Fox HDR T2. - and its not overnight the S2 goes into standby it seems to be in the afternoon time.

It is a Humax Foxsat-HDR you have not something you refer to as a " foxsat HDR S2 "

"Housekeeping" for that machine is in the un-modified firmware by Humax. Not a feature of the CF for the Foxsats so not in the CF documentation.
At around 03:00 (I think) the unit wakes from sleep, tunes to the freesat home transponder and:
  • looks for a firmware OTA update (none are transmitted any more)
  • looks for new/deleted freesat channels and transponder moves and LCN changes update everything accordingly*
  • updates the stored 7-day epg data
  • probably does other things (e.g. delete old reservations after a very long time)
Then goes back into standby.

* it fails on any DVB-S2 MPEG2 to H.264 (aka MPEG4) codec changes made by the broadcasters, and we have to do a manual fudge for when that happens

If left ON (or if it happens to be being used / recording a programme) those housekeeping updates can't happen and if so the EPG can become 'stale' and recordings may potentially be missed. (IIRC).

NB the Foxsat-HDR CF is / was discussed more on AVForums where the CF developers came from (long gone now, sadly) but may be worth taking some time to read on there (the search is a bit pants though, for finding specifics; a bit of a lottery).
